Who's Winning?

Since 1990, Michigan community colleges have experienced periods of dramatric flucuations in enrollment influenced by a variety of factors.  Yet, over this time period, not all institutions have keep up with the enrollment race. Typically, colleges and universities use fall headcount as a bellweather statistic to gauge enrollment success. Here, we track changes in community colleges' headcount rank and explore the biggest winners and losers. 

 

So, who are the biggest winners? 

 

For rank:

  • Macomb (current top rank)
  • Wayne County (for larger colleges); Mid Michigan (for smaller colleges)

For headcount:

  • Mid Michigan (smaller)

 

And the biggest losers?

 

For rank: 

  • Lansing (for larger colleges); Alpena (of smaller colleges) 

For headcount:

  • Oakland & Lansing [tied] (larger colleges)
